Below is a short video on my reflection of this week’s work when it comes to creating the final cut of my short scene. I also mention a little about this final week of the Advanced Visual Storytelling course. Enjoy!

This week has not been the best for me when it comes to creating a K.I.S.S short scene. The video below describes it perfectly.

The first week of the Advanced Visual Storytelling course was pretty interesting. So, I decided to post a video of my reflection for this week. Enjoy!

Over the last few weeks, I have done something I never did before as a writer. Yet, I have thought about it. I adapted a short story. This was difficult yet exciting. I pushed myself to not only creating another writing project but hopefully doing right by Anton Chekhov and his storyline for The Chorus Girl. The original short story was made in the late 1800s, so this adaptation needed to be modernized. Due to the original being kind of vague, my short film screenplay needed to answer all questions. Unlike the original, besides being modernized my project also included three characters instead of two. A key learning element about the formats is that sometimes the short stories do not give a backstory, in which I did. Even with a short film, I was able to include a backstory whilst sticking to the storyline.
Before starting my master’s program, I wanted to write screenplays for my fellow writers on Wattpad. During this course, I learned that an adaptation for a book often includes the deletion of some nonessential parts. I honestly, thought of having every single detail included. In which, I offered episodic scripts that are not needed when a cinematic script would fit the stories perfectly. Thankfully, I took this course before I even started writing those screenplays. Overall, this course has made me more anxious to begin writing those screenplays.

This course had been very interesting. It is a course that definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. I may have realized that creating a game is not really for me, but it is something to add to my résumé. Even though I was no longer comfortable, I continued to push myself. I have included a few assignments that I believe showed myself being pushed. Whether it is creating a world, monsters, NPCs, or combat for the game, I did it.
